Anniversary in Blue
Screen, 9" x 12", 2025

Sketching
Different tones were explored digitally, with a lighter one being chosen to aid the more hopeful ending of the comic.
Paper color was similarly considered, and sky colored paper was chosen to represent rain and skin tones.

Line was also used when experimenting with panels. Certain panels utilize traditional comic techniques, such as blotting in the third panel and halftones in the sixth and seventh panels. These were tests to see the capabilities of the screen to replicate comic textures and the moods that these textures enhance.
The rain in the piece was conveyed by "cutting" into the page, leaving lines with no color or texture, just negative space. These lines also break past panels to push the feeling of an overwhelming downpour.
